Rom Ghenshar is the alien race who has come to eradicate the human race by creating exact replicas of humans while sucking in the remaining resources present on the planet earth.

However, a slight deviation to their plan occurs when “Rothwen”, who is a headstrong and ruthless alien soldier,  is infatuated by a human “Erin”, a bright young human student with a mysterious past. He takes her to his planet even though it will jeopardize the plan of occupying Earth.

Erin learns a lot about the Rom Ghenshars. Now, with such access, only Erin will be able to save the further destruction of the planet earth and save the human race from becoming extinct.

Now as Erin is exposed to the enemy territory, she learns of ways in which they operate. Erin is determined to save her planet, but how will she do it?

Will she get the help of any aliens in her endeavour?

The vividness of the plot kept me hooked throughout. The author’s language drew me into a future which might come true for our planet if we aren’t careful about the sustainable utilisation of our resources.

A very thoughtful, futuristic and apocalyptic science fiction novel which have read in the recent past.

A very well-written book with several twists and turns which makes it a page-turner. The author’s imaginative writing surely got goosebumps to me.

 I picked this book, and I was blown away by the author’s style of writing and the plotline.

• What is special in your book?

• Do you try to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

While writing my book, I always had the reader in mind; what would they think? How would they feel? I wanted them to ask themselves what they would do in those situations. I wanted to take the readers on a mesmerising journey through otherworldly landscapes and incredible conflicts, and that, in turn, made the plot unique and original.

• Do you think someone could be a writer if they don’t feel emotions strongly?

Writing is all about pouring one’s soul into the written word. It is like composing an opera. There are ups and downs, twists and turns, sadness and happiness, excitement and despair. So it is all about emotions. I believe the stronger the writer’s emotions, the more enduring the message they can convey.

• How long did it take you to write this book?

It took me five years to complete my book, from the first idea to the release. As I am working full-time, I only could write in the evenings and at weekends. The process of writing, reviews, illustrations and interior design was very time-consuming but very satisfying as I achieved every milestone.

• Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

I do receive lovely comments from my readers: For example:

In my spare time, when not writing or working on software development, I love reading, listening to music, travelling, learning new languages, sky-watching, and participating in astronomy-related projects and events.

• What advice would you give to a writer working on their first book?

Don’t give up. Write everything that comes to your mind, and turn your ideas into words, sentences, paragraphs, chapters and sections. Let your imagination flow as you write, and enjoy every moment. Then you can work on the storyline structure, dialogue and refining the characters. Set your goals and celebrate every milestone that you achieve.

• Would you share something about yourself that your readers don’t know (yet)?

I love rock music and am a big fan of “The Strokes” (The Strokes). I always go and see them in concert when they come to London.

I just finished reading this book.

This book is filled with adventure, romance, an engrossing plot, unforgettable characters, gripping story overall. I was immersed in reading this for several weekends. I can bet you’re not going to leave it until you finish your last page.

Do aliens exist? If they do, where are they?

The protagonist of this book is Erin Lobart. This is a time when our beloved Earth has been deprived of its limited resources, and people are scourging for the basic amenities of life like food and water.

Erin lives on the remote island of Tinian with her parents. She was adopted when she was young, and now, with her parents and a few rescue teams, she was mobilising food and medicine for survival.

However, there was an important discovery which would really change the dynamics of their survival rate on this planet Earth.

What if you knew that the aliens have camouflaged as humans and are living amongst us?

They are not here for a visit but are set for destruction and revenge.

As Erin and her friend Sam discover this, they somehow want to stop this apocalypse. Meanwhile, Erin falls in love.

What is going to happen to the fate of the Earth and our civilisation?

Can love save them from further destruction, or will it be the end of it?

This is a fantastic sci-fi novel I have read in recent times. The plot is gripping, and the characterisation is well-rounded.

The author rightly articulated her views about the current state of Earth we find ourselves in and gave us a futuristic glimpse of what is bound to happen if we are not in touch with this grim reality and embrace sustainable living.

I loved the Alien element in this book; it is surely a treat for fiction lovers!

The world-building is amazing from the initial situation on Earth to the alien civilization, both past and present. The battle for survival by humans is extraordinarily realistic. The author provides enough detail for you to really feel the effort it takes for each chore but never bogs down the story.

Omara Williams has taken a world and set you down in the middle of it to experience it right along with the characters..as if you are one of the characters. Her ability to make these people and places, alien, horrifying, fascinating, exciting, revolting, titillating, seem real and plausible is just amazing. She will take you on an adventure that you won’t soon forget and that you might want to return to again and again. This is my first read from this author. I am looking forward to experiencing more!

The Space Traveller’s Lover in a nutshell

Taking the best of two genres – romance and science fiction – and placing them in an epic story of conflict between two worlds, The Space Traveller’s Lover by Omara Williams will win your heart and mind alike.

The driving force for this suspense-packed story is the author’s pursuit of an answer to the timeless question, ‘Just how powerful can love be?’. It is, as we find out, a query that will have the greatest of importance, not only to the lives of the central characters but of all humanity.

The novel is set in the near future, towards the close of the century, where Earth has been ravaged by the effects of irreversible climate change. Vicious cycles of droughts and floods have decimated resources, leaving civilisation on the brink of collapse.

In the first chapter we are introduced to teenager Erin Lobart, who lives on the island of Tinian with her adoptive parents. Here, she assists with the running of their tuna farm and assists rescue team in delivering aid to those in need.

It’s a somewhat mundane existence for Erin, whose prodigious intelligence and stunning beauty are out of keeping with the rest of the islanders. As a result, she is cruelly bullied and, understandably, prefers to spend time alone.

Truth told, she has always felt that doesn’t exactly belong, and this feeling is only becoming stronger with the recent manifestation of strange dreams, so vivid and otherworldly, deepening the gulf between Erin, her adoptive parents, and her surroundings.

On her 16^th birthday, Erin and her best friend Sam Sheppard set on a celebratory trip, with Sam revealing that he is taking them both to Diablo’s cave, a scenic yet dangerous location that has long held a fascination for both of them.

Holding a torch for Erin, Sam plans to announce his true feelings during their trip but things do not go as planned.

Journeying through the cave in a boat, they find themselves within a chamber lit by a strange orange light, its mesmeric spell only broken by the arrival of something stranger still – a metallic craft from beneath the water.

Its pilot approaches the terrified teenagers as they are overcome by some external force that sinks them into unconsciousness.

The stranger’s intentions, however, seem far from malevolent, as this sensual passage reveals:

The man focused his full attention on Erin, crouching around her and inspecting her body from head to toe. He stroked her gently, wiping her wet skin and rearranging her dishevelled hair. Upon waking, Erin finds that she has been taken by the man into his spaceship, with Sam left behind in the cave.

She is amazed to discover that her captor is the same mysterious figure who’s watched her in her dreams, as she runs through alien corridors and out into a multihued ocean unlike anything else she’s seen before.

He introduces himself as Rothwen, an elite space traveller and member of the Rom-Ghenshar – a genetically engineered, immortal alien race that is smarter and stronger than humankind.

It is in his, admittedly charming and hunky, company that Erin makes a shocking discovery. The  Rom-Ghenshar are an ancient enemy of Earth, having tried and failed to conquer the planet some 10,000 years before.

Now they are back, and though Erin doesn’t yet know this, the seemingly gentle Rothwen is also the vanguard of his specie’s invasion force, planning to carry out a mission of revenge that has spanned eons.

The revelations don’t end there. She soon comes to learn that this would-be intergalactic beau, dressed in the most fetching of black suits and with dove-white hair, has been secretly watching her for some time.

Referring to her by the name of  ‘Shaillah’, he explains that – as Erin has long suspected – she is different to everyone else, having a unique ancestry.

Rothwen vows to keep her by his side and unlocks her true powers so they can journey to the Rom-Ghenshar’s home planet. The price, however, is to abandon her former life and acquaintances entirely.

Their complex relationship and the dilemma for Erin at its heart constantly propels the narrative forward and ensures that there is never a dull moment as the plot deepens. In other words, this gripping story will have you tingling in delight.

As will the beautiful black and white illustrations between chapters, which add to the immersiveness of the reading experience and helps the reader bond with the “characters.
